Dr. Hewitt W. “Ted” Matthews III
December 1, 1944 – September 26, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved pastor, mentor, and friend, Dr. Hewitt W. “Ted” Matthews III, who departed this life peacefully early this morning, September 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, just two months before his 81st birthday.
A faithful servant of God, Dr. Matthews (Bro Ted) devoted 46 years to the Fellowship of Faith Church International as our cherished Associate Pastor. He was the first Elder appointed to pastorship at the Fellowship of Faith Church. His legacy is imprinted on every ministry he touched—most notably through his dynamic leadership in the Children’s Ministry, the Marriage Ministry, Graduate Recognition “Pearls of Wisdom”, and as the founder of the Health and Wellness Committee. Dr. Matthews was a pillar of wisdom, compassion, and spiritual insight to all who sat under his tutelage. He walked among us as a giant of faith.

As we reflect on Pastor Ted’s remarkable life and ministry, we kindly ask that everyone respect the privacy of the Matthews family as they mourn their loss and make preparations. Let us come together as a church family to support them in love and lift them up in prayer, walking with them through this season with grace and compassion.
Pastor Ted was more than a pastor—he was a treasure and an enduring inspiration to the Fellowship of Faith Church International family. His absence will be deeply felt, but his influence and legacy will forever remain.
Visitation and funeral arrangements will be shared with the congregation as soon as those details are finalized.

Christian education for children, ages 6 weeks through the 12th Grade, is provided by the church’s school - Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy. At SACA, we believe that God has uniquely created each of His children and imbued them with gifts to be used to bring Him honor and glory. We consider it our responsibility to unfold this uniqueness, and these gifts to motivate each child to do his utmost to achieve and exemplify excellence in every aspect of his life. Thus, all learning is rooted in the understanding of faith in God and the power of His Word, and to transform every student to greatness.
